Why It’s a good thing when someone doesn’t book you

Every now and then, I’ll get an email from a bride saying they loved my work but found someone a little cheaper, and honestly, I’m so glad they do.
Because the truth is, not every bride is my bride, and that’s completely fine.
When you’re planning your wedding, you’re not just hiring suppliers, you’re choosing the people who will be there with you during one of the most emotional days of your life. The ones who will champion and support you while you laugh, cry, and breathe it all in. Those people matter.
Just like you chose your partner with love and intention, it’s worth choosing your wedding suppliers that way too. Not because of the cheapest quote, but because they get you.
When a bride books me, it’s never just about hair or makeup. It’s about energy, connection, and creating a space where you can feel totally at ease.
A recent bride of mine described her experience beautifully:
“Holly was incredible from start to finish. I’m not the most traditional bride with bright coloured hair, an alternative personal style, and not a big makeup girly. On top of that, I have ADHD and autism, which means I often come with quirks and needs that others might see as unusual. Holly never made me feel out of place. From the very first trial through to the big day, she made me feel completely comfortable, listened to, and understood.”
“For my hair, I wanted it down to show off the colour, but styled so it wouldn’t constantly get in my face. For makeup, I didn’t want anything heavy, just something that still looked like me but a little elevated for the occasion. Holly absolutely nailed both. The end result felt natural, beautiful, and most importantly, authentic to who I am. I’ve never felt so confident, and I couldn’t have imagined a better look for the day.”
That right there, is why I do this.
I don’t want to be the cheapest choice; I want to be the right one. The person who helps you feel grounded, understood, and true to yourself on one of the biggest days of your life.
So to every bride who books me because our energy matches and my work speaks to them, thank you. You’re the reason behind the magic.
And to the brides who go another way because of price, I honestly wish you the best, too. It means you’ve made the choice that’s right for you.
