Blooming Love Stories: Unveiling the artistry of Willow & Blossom - Your enchanting wedding florist

Join me in a lovely chat with Ellice from Willow & Blossom. Discussing all things floral!

Award winning florist

Hi, I'm Ellice, owner of Willow & Blossom. I have always loved creating designs with lots of texture & a natural feel. I love using lots of different textured foliage to create movement in a design.

I like my designs to have a romantic, elegant feel whilst still being quite relaxed and natural. I work with the freshest seasonal blooms & will be able to advise you which flowers are available for your wedding day.

I'm based in the lovely village of Offley, Hertfordshire & I'm happy to travel for weddings.

What are your top 3 favorite flowers to work with?

My all time favourite flower is a Ranunculus but I also love garden roses & peonies. When you get all 3 together, it's a great combo! What's your ultimate go to for foliage?

I love using a mix of different foliages to create lots of texture. I use soft ruscus quite a bit, you can get it in long lengths and it is great for a soft flowing look. Also great for big arch's & installations!

How should you hold your bouquet?

I normally do a little demo of this when I deliver your bouquet to you on your wedding morning. Pearl pins go at the back, and you want to hold your bouquet loosely, sort of in your lap so you don't cover up any details of your dress. Tilt the bouquet forward slightly for the best flowery view.

Does the time of year make a difference to what flowers you can have?

Certain flowers are only available at certain times of the year but your personalised proposal will show a range of potential flower options available for your wedding. There's lots of beautiful options so don't be disheartened if you're not getting married during peony season, I'll suggest some alternatives for you. Do You Provide Other Décor and Accessories?

I have a range of different styling items I can offer such as tealights, urns, plinths etc and I also work with stylists so can source extra bits if required. What side do you wear a button hole?

Traditionally men wear their buttonholes on the left hand side. Women wear them on the right hand side. How should you look after your flowers on the day?

I always suggest hiring some extra vases so you can pop your bouquets in water when they're not in use. Keeping them as fresh as possibly and also using them as extra decor around the venue.

How best to preserve your bouquet?

There's so many options when it comes to preserving your bouquet. People offer pressed flower frames, flowers preserved in resin, 3D freeze dried designs. It's worth checking out Etsy to see what you can find and book it in advanced as you'll need to get the flowers to them ASAP so they're still fresh.

Top tip for newly engaged couples?

Find suppliers who's work and style you love so you can trust them to create designs perf

ectly suited to you. Instagram is normally the best place to view up to date portfolios. It's also worth checking out feedback/review sections to see previous couples feedback.
